ArcGIS Pro has a short path-length limit for raster publishing?

We were trying to publish image services in ArcGIS Pro and are getting error messages that don't contain helpful information. The mosaic datasets that we are trying to publish as image services were successfully published as image services from ArcMap Desktop, but ArcGIS Pro was not having luck.

It turns out that ArcGIS Pro apparently has a shorter path-length tolerance. We copied our data to a folder up a few levels and were able to publish an image server.

However, we value our current folder structure and would like to keep it if at all possible. Moving imagery to satisfy ArcPro's constrained path length tolerance would be an enormous undertaking and would deny us the folder structure we have found useful.

Does anyone know what the maximum path length is for publishing rasters in ArcGIS Pro? Is this a setting that can be changed? We are in a bit of a pickle if we have to work with this new limit.

NOTE: This seems to apply to any publishing of rasters, even as map services.

Randy, do you have any more details about errors you might be receiving (if any)?  Like this: 00177: Path exceeds operating system limit—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop 

Or about what length seems to be the limit you're hitting?  I see this in the ArcGIS Desktop (not specifically Pro) help Path size limitation for publishing—Publish services | ArcGIS Desktop  and it has been my understanding that path limits have always been an OS specific issue.  

But since you're saying that you're able to publish something from the same location in ArcMap that fails from Pro, it would be important to have some details provided.

Thanks for the response. We thought this was the problem, because we had luck publishing when we moved an image that would not publish "up" a few levels in the folder structure, but there are more variables at play. We now think registration is the issue.

Registration is turning out to be tricky in ArcGIS Pro, or at least it's tricky when ArcGIS Pro is working with data registered by ArcMap Desktop. The data is in a folder that is registered, but it's not being recognized as registered, so we have to REregister, and it appears as though there is a specific way you have to do that in ArcGIS Pro. 

I reregistered the folder, using the letter drive for the Publisher folder path, and the UNC for the Server folder path.

This allowed for a successful registration and a successful publishing of the image service.
