ArcGIS Pro 3D scene: Contour lines and labels exhibit undesireable behavior in 3D mode.

I've created a 3D bathymetry Global Scene in ArcGIS Pro. This scene is to be packaged and shared as a Mobile Scene Package (mspk) for use in the ArcGIS Earth mobile app. I have a few sets of contour polylines with associated Z value (depth) attributes.

I'm having some issues with how the contour lines and labels behave in 3D mode.
1. In 3D mode, the contour lines don't conform to undulating areas of the elevation layer surface. Sections of contour lines run under the elevation layer surface, while other sections of the contours float above the surface layer. I fiddled with various combinations of the contour elevation and cartographic offset settings, but couldn't get the lines to remain on the surface elevation layer.

The contours display as expected in 2D mode.

In 3D mode, the contour labels don't honor the selected placement position in the Label Class settings. Instead, the labels float and wander as I pan and zoom in on the map. I turned off every Label Class 3D setting I could find, but the labels kept floating around in no-man's land. What's the trick to make labels in 3D mode stay affixed to their associated line, remain at their assigned Z elevation, and lay flat on the elevation layer's surface?Lost Labels1.pngLost Labels2.png

3. And I'm sure this last issue is functioning as designed, but in 2D mode, the contour labels don't display, and the Label manager is disabled. Why?

Thanks in advance for any guidance provided that can help me get these 3D contours and labels under control.
