I would like to develop a GP tool that can be deployed as an add-in,  and then published as a gp service.

In Visual Studio, in the ArcGIS Add-ins wizard, I would like to see a checkbox for "Geoprocessing tool".

When selected it would create the necessary source code template files.

I really like how smoothly SOE deployment is through the use of .soe files.  If something similar could be done with .NET gp tools, it would be great.

Currently it is a pain to upload and register custom gp tool dlls to server.  This needs to be streamlined.   The gp dll would be uploaded and registered as part of the "share" process, similar to the way .soe files are handled.

There are no further plans for future development in this area at this time. ArcGIS Pro does not support custom .NET geoprocessing tools, any custom tool development needs to use Python or ModelBuilder. Both Python and ModelBuilder-based geoprocessing tools have a standardized approach for deployment to an ArcGIS Server/Enterprise, using the Sharing pane.
