In Legend Item properties, on the Override default patch option, allow a polygon feature class to be represented by a line symbol displaying the Outline symbol of the polygon. This is useful for frequent cases where the polygon feature class is only symbolized with an outline and no fill, and to the map reader it just looks like a line anyway (e.g. a district boundary).
