When a license is checked out for offline use in ArcGIS Pro, and something happens to that machine (possibly a hard drive crash, etc.) the ArcGIS Pro license is not recoverable as it has been checked out and is now associated with that machine.

There needs to be a method for an ArcGIS Online administrator to force revoke that license from the machine so that it can be recovered and used again by that person.

Currently you have to open an ESRI case to reset the license.

Currently dealing with this, and it's particularly painful since I am working after hours to get something done.

Why, oh why Esri??

My org owns the machine.  My org owns the licenses.  Why can't you let somebody with full IT administrative access to everything just get this taken care of without having to contact Esri?

Please.  Pretty pretty please.  Don't do this kind of stuff to your paying customers.

ArcGIS Online Admins need a way to revoke/reset Offline licenses without involvement from the user that borrowed the license or Esri. As has been stated, sometimes the person or computer is just not available. At other times it is not convenient.

Recently when the change of user types caused duplicate extension licenses to be allotted to most of our org members, I was unable to remedy the issue for offline licenses without getting each member to check theirs back in and then out again after I fixed the issue. Huge hassle.

If Esri is worried about org's going over their license allowance b/c there are a few checked out, AT LEAST let us do this when we have unused licenses remaining.

Aaaaand, just now, during finals week, I have a faculty member whose laptop bricked last night and he now can't use ArcGIS Pro on his new one b/c the license was checked out.

The only reason he checked a license out was b/c Esri took away our Single Use and Concurrent License options.

So I'm off to start a service case to get the license reset. This is ridiculous.

Totally understand, Pat. As you know, we continue to strive for improvement of the process to recover lost licenses, and provide further control for administrators.

Thanks for your understanding, @GeriMiller ! Do you happen to know the rationale for not allowing administrators to reset the license themselves? Especially when we have piles of unused licenses?

We really need this too, it's a pain having to log a case with Esri support to get checked out licences revoked.  Any timescales for getting something in place for administrators to be able to do this ourselves @GeriMiller?
