Add CAD files to the Content Pane in a Only Visualized mode.

In ArcMap, you used to be able to open a CAD file in a Read Only mode. An if you wanted to create a shapefile you had to go inside the CAD file and add the polygon or the polyline. But the Read Only mode was great if you only wanted to used the CAD as reference. It was a separate white background file display in the Add Data window right after the Light Blue colored CAD file.

There were multiple updates to the organization of read-only feature layers from CAD in ArcGIS Pro 3.2 (Nov. 2023):

- More compactness in the read-only group layer

- Inclusion of Annotation feature classes as part of read-only feature creation from CAD files (which adds to Point, Polyline, Polygon, and Multipatch).

- Improved performance when populating the group layer

These updates are intended to contribute to flexibility for how the read-only feature layers are used within your projects, including use of the CAD content as reference. As examples, the most current organization and presentation of the read-only layers allows for: 1) rich symbology to carry through; and, 2) the ability to display not just all, but as much or as little, of the CAD file contents for reference (and other) purposes.
