Add a button to the symbology pane to flip the entire symbology of a layer to greyscale and back.

When you have a complex, pretty, full colour symbol set set up and you hear the client may want to print it in black&white only it will be handy to have a feature to flip the entire style to greyscale so you can see what it looks like and make adjustments to the colours.

This should not be a one-way conversion but a just a state from which you can revert back to the full colour version.

This should not be an output stage (pdf, etc) setting but layer specific as it is handy to set a map as greyscale and use colour on a single other layer for dazzling effect.

We have no plans to do this for the symbology itself, but adding grayscale to the color vision simulation options and applying it to the whole view is under consideration as noted at this idea: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/add-black-amp-white-option-to-color-vision/idi-p/1380...

Hi @CraigWilliams This is not the same as the idea you mention, although related.

Please re-open and let the community decide if it is of value.

Re-opened, but I contend the other idea is non-destructive and meets the workflow you mention. Alternatively, layer effects (which are on the ArcGIS Pro roadmap) will also provide a draw time swap to grayscale for individual layers without a destructive change to symbols.

@CraigWilliams  Layer Effects will be a good place for this functionality as being able to export a map with it enabled is useful - something you can't do with Colour Vision simulation - except doing a screenshot 🙂

@KoryKramer can you add Greyscale to the effects list?
