ArcGIS Pro Roadmap - May 2021

ArcGIS Pro 2.8 was released on May 13th, 2021.  For information on the latest updates, see the ArcGIS Pro Release Notes.

Our goal is to build the best GIS software available. This ArcGIS Pro Roadmap* gives you a sneak peek of what we're focusing on for the near, mid and long-term of ArcGIS Pro development.  This gives our current estimate of when each capability will be released. Some new capabilities will be made available for testing through Early Adopters Programs prior to a release. We'll revise the roadmap throughout the year to ensure it reflects the latest information.

Near-term (next release or two)

Upgrade Python Environment - Upgrade a python environment created in a previous version to the current version of ArcGIS Pro.

Knowledge Graphs - Provides a way to create, visualize, and query a graph network containing entities and relationships across ArcGIS.

Projects in the Enterprise - Use your Portal to share projects, collaborate and work more effectively with others in your organization.

Roof Editing in Stereo – Tools specifically designed to create and edit pitches, ridge lines, gables and other roof specific features. 

Dynamic Feature Clustering - Dynamic grouping of features as proportional symbols in order to visualize areas with greater and lesser numbers of features when displaying data at varying scales.

Animated symbols - Symbols that dynamically change to show direction of movement, change in intensity, or fluctuations in value to support scientific temporal visualizations.

Big Data Analytic Warehouses - Enhance ArcGIS ability to explore, visualize, analyze and share data stored in big data analytic warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake)

Indoor Positioning - The ability to configure an IPS workspace, share to the IPS survey mobile app, process the survey data, and share indoor positioning data to Runtime-powered apps.

Presence-only Prediction - A powerful way to model relationships between occurrence of an event and underlying factors, where difficult to collect representative absence data is not required.

Change Point Detection - Change Point Detection allows you to analyze a time series to find points in time where there have been significant changes in either mean, variance, count or slope. Finding these change points can help with workflows involving modeling, evaluating the impact of policies or campaigns, or for generally turning data into deeper understanding of complex phenomena.

Geoprocessing Credit Estimator - A command to estimate the number of ArcGIS credits will be added to the approximately 20 geoprocessing tools that consume credits.

Suitability Modeler Sharing - Share and execute raster suitability models using ArcGIS Enterprise and raster analytics in ArcGIS Image Server.

Parcel Fabric 3D Cadaster -  support for 3D cadaster requirements using multipatch geometry, 3D Least Squares Adjustment (LSA) and data flow

Voxel Layer Sharing - Share Voxel Scene Layers for use in web, desktop and mobile apps.

Reality Mapping Extension - Capture and analyze 3D data from aerial, drone, and ground-based sensors in an automated end-to-end process. Support for professional photogrammetry workflows improved precision, speed. Transform imagery and lidar data into point clouds, phototextured 3D meshes, and true orthos.

Linear Referencing UI – A new ribbon-based experience for Linear Referencing tools and functions

Mid-term (next two or three releases)

Catalog Layers - Working with collections of layers within ArcGIS.

Point Cloud Scene Layer Data Management Add, Delete, Change very large point cloud services based on referenced data sources.

Simulation Modeling – Simulate and visualize complex phenomena like airflow and fluid dynamics in 3D/4D based on physical models.

Presentations - Create and share a collection of map and scene views along with titles, graphics, and descriptive text as presentations.

Spatio-temporal Density Analysis - Kernel Density will be enhanced to calculate density for observations that change over space and time.

Multiscale GWR - An important complement to traditional Geographically Weighted Regression which allows for different bandwidths to be used for each covariate in the model.

­Scientific Data Ingestion– Improve the performance and scalability of multidimensional features ingested from scientific data.

Parcel Lineage Visualization -  Graphical depiction of parcel lineage and association to the legal record

Parcel Fabric Coordinate Based Cadaster -  Support field and back office workflows for coordinate based cadaster where coordinates define the legal boundaries

Managed Indoor Data Pipeline - A coordinated control process for managing and recording recurring change to floor plans and other indoor information provided by designers, contractors, or operations teams when new construction, remodeling, or other activities alter the source information.

ENC Chart Viewing - View Electronic Navigational Charts from formats such as S-57 as layers and change chart display settings.

Enhanced Radar Data Support - Support for GRD and SLC radar data

Long-term (in the plan but not assigned to a release at this point)

Terrain Editing - Edit features participating in a terrain dataset.  Add, remove and replace data referenced by terrains.

Materials Authoring – Author properties on surfaces to support reflectivity, roughness, and other properties for more photo-realistic visualizations in 3D scenes.

High Fidelity Rendering - A series of display improvements to support more photo-realistic 3D scene visualizations.

3D Mesh as Ground - The ability to use integrated mesh or TIN information as a true triangulated ground surface that would be more precise than our raster surfaces and allow structures such as tunnels and mines.

Integrated Mesh Scene Layer Data Management Add, Delete, Change very large integrated mesh services based on SLPK

64-Bit Object ID - Enhancing  ArcGIS system’s ability to work with very large datasets

New Data Types – BigInteger, Timestamp with Time zone - Add support for new data types required for critical user workflows related to time, observation data etc.

Regarding the "Linear Referencing UI" item in the near-term section, is this related to ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing/Location Referencing tools or is it related to the older Linear Referencing tools?

@LittleFictions that refers to core linear referencing tools, not ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing/Location Referencing.
