What happened to ArcGIS Portal?

I remember talk about being able to purchase and install ArcGIS Online behind a firewall.  Keeping my company data behind a firewall between our various office locations is very important.  I haven�??t heard much about this product in quite some time.  The website below says that it should be available in the Fall of 2012, and that date has been mentioned by Esri employees.  However, I am hoping to gain more insight.  Has this been released or do we have to go through Professional Services?  I know there are several GISers who would really like to be able to use Portal for ArcGIS without going through Professional Services.

Agreed, I would like to hear more about this.
ArcGIS online is NOT an option for my company, but Portal sounds great.
Been having a real hard time getting any info about when and how it will be available.
We are holding off buying server until I found out what Portal is all about.

For what its worth, I emailed Esri and they told me Portal for ArcGIS will not be available to install without support from Esri Professional Services until mid to late 2013.
