Hello all,

I'm working with ArcGIS Online. To carry over symbology from an origin layer, I've done "save as" under visualization to create another layer. It appears to create a new, unique layer. Data added to the copy does not show up in the original. However, the URLs are the same. How is this possible, and are there any situations you know of where this may cause issues?

Save As just creates a new item in AGOL with the same url reference.  It's the same effect as going to 'Content' and adding that new item by the original URL and setting a different name to call it.  Either way - the copy is a 'Feature Layer' and the original likely a 'Hosted Feature Layer' in the descriptions.

You will find that the data you've added to the 'new' layer is also appearing in the original - unless you have some different setting on the original (such as from Survey123) where only submitters/editors can see their responses etc.
