Hi, I'm trying to complete an assignment, "Climbing high Custom pop-ups", from ArcGIS Online "Teach with GIS" website.

I'm struggling to configure the pop-up information boxes to display a thumbnail image. Hmmm. I'm able to add a thumbnail icon, see below, but not the photo itself. Odd. Any help would be appreciated. -- Owen

Hi Owen,

Thanks for posting on GeoNet! I got the same behavior as you when I tried to use the URL of pictures found on Wikipedia. Specifically, just from enlarging an image on the Wikipedia page and using the URL beginning with https://en.wikipedia.org or even https://commons.wikimedia.org

Rather, please try clicking on the image one more time so that the URL changes to https://upload.wikimedia.org and using this in your URL instead. The https://upload.wikimedia.org URL seems to be where the actual images are hosted. Changing this should allow the image to display as expected in ArcGIS Online.

Hope it helps!

Hello!

I have a similar problem, but it is more likely due to a lack of understanding of how to set different URLs for different lines.
There are more than 900 positions in my table, each of which needs its own photo, I have my own photos, but even by setting test URLs I was only able to set one image for all rows. How to make pictures individual?
How can I download them from my computer?

Thank you very much..

Hi, hello! Vivien, your suggestion worked like a charm! Why? I'd love to be able to explain the fix to my students. Can you describe it to me? Any help appreciated. -- Owen

Hi Owen,

I'm delighted to hear that my suggestions were able to help resolve your issue! Please remember to mark it as the solution by clicking the Mark as answer check on this post and to click the top arrow (promote).

Broadly, the https://en.wikipedia.org and https://commons.wikimedia.org URLs contain an internal redirect to the actual source of the image, which is uploaded at https://upload.wikimedia.org. Let me know if that makes sense, or if there's anything more I can clarify.

Thanks,

Vivien
