Share as Imagery Layer: "Your Portal does not support this share type"???

I'm a member of a very large organizational account on maps.arcgis.com, and I also have my own personal use organizational account on that site as well. I've tried to upload/share imagery layers / image services on both these accounts via Arc Pro, and in the Share as Web Layer dialogue there is a hard error message stating "Your Portal does not support this share type". It won't let me proceed to the Analyze step. 

What's going on?

ArcGIS Online does not support publishing image services. In order to post an image service you need to publish to ArcGIS Enterprise. ArcGIS Online can consume image services and publish tile services depending on how you want to use your imagery.
