All,

Are you looking for Credit Budgeting and Allocation?

I started with low allocations, figuring I can always increase it for the users that need it.  I gave the power users 10 and the other users 5 to start. I figure that would give theme enough to do most things, but would prevent any run away, clicked-by-mistake issues.  Then if the users needs more for legit purposes, it is easy to increase.

it seems you are allowed to allocate more than you have credits.....assuming they are not all used.  That is, if you had 50 users, but only 100 credits, you can give them all 5 credit limit. It isn't a problem unless they get used.

i was told, but haven't tested, that if the user requests a task and they do not have enough allocated, it is supposed to warn them and not allow them to start the task.  If this happens, they should be able to check in with you for more.

btw, we've on,y had one "oops" so far, and haven't come close to using our credits, but we use ArcGIS Server for most of the heavy lifting, so far.  That could change in the future.

yeah we've only had a couple oops so far.

short of creating custom roles I was hoping there was a way to restrict users from using any credits at all.

thanks,

dave

Did you look thru the link that Jayanta  included in his reply?  That has some info and does say you can limit user allocation, but it doesn't say you can limit it to zero....but you may want to try. However, zero might mean to org limit, ??  How about setting it to 1? You should be able to do that in bulk, and I know you can set a limit for all new users.

Allocate credits to members

Whether you’re allocating credits to members in bulk or to an individual member, you can specify one of two settings—an explicit number of credits or no allocated limit, which is equivalent to the organization’s total number of credits.

edit... It does say you can bulk edit by groups or other filters..

Filter the list of your organization’s members by Name, Group, or Role. Click the names in the Member list to move them to the Selected Members list or click Add All to move all members. Click a name to remove it from the Selected Members list.
