Reduction in vector data 'resolution' when viewing in Map Viewer

I have some polygon layers that I have shared to AGOL. However, I'm getting an issue when viewing some of the larger polygon layers. When I view them in Map Viewer the resolution is reduced drastically, but I have no issues with smaller files. The green polygon is a smaller layer (30MB) and is displaying correctly, while the pink layer is a larger file (139MB) and should be displaying at the same resolution as the green polygon (see image below). I find this perplexing as vector data shouldn't really have an associated resolution.

I have tried sharing the data to AGOL in different ways - As a zipped shapefile, as a zipped gdb and through ArcGIS Pro 'Publish a web layer' with the same outcome.

When I redownload the data locally and open in pro it displays correctly, which makes me think it might be something to do with map viewer 'simplifying' larger layers to save time when rendering, but I haven't been able to find any documentation on this.
