Does this template has search functionality available? I noticed that Rockville Map Gallery http://maps.rockvillemd.gov/gallery/map.html?webmap=da37c709d83c4a398993dd5972951f52 has that functionality implemented. Is that a custom implementation or is it a functionality of the template?

Thank you.

Sorry for cross posting.

I am curious about re-ordering map thumbnails in this template. I have three maps showcased into this public map gallery template(http://www.brooklinema.gov/maps-gallery/ ). Now, I want to order maps in sequence, example: School Districts, Population Comparison, Asian Population so on. I downloaded the template and looked at the query.arcgis.js, it seems that there is way to sort field and order maps by different style. I tried to sort and  order maps by title but did not come out. Will appreciate suggestions.

Thanks

Hello,

I don't think it's currently possible to order by specific items. For the sort field, you can use multiple fields comma separated if you'd like to order by title and then another field.

Description: Field to sort by. You can also sort by multiple fields for an item, comma separated.
The allowed sort field names are title, created, type, owner, avgRating, numRatings, numComments and numViews.

Are you Matt from the Charlotte office?

Fyi, I have the good fortune of being invited to present in UC plenary session on Monday.  My presentation will be on the ArcGIS for Local Government application templates we have implemented.  As part of my presentation, I am showing one version of the Public Map Gallery.  I'm currently e-mailing from Redlands as I'm working with the plenary team to prepare for Monday. I would love to meet you and the other folks who have provided us with this wonderful product.  If you're interested, PM me and we can exchange contact information so we can meet for at least 5 minutes while I'm in Redlands.

I am interested in how you made the PDF Gallery work. I'd like to set up something similar on my own project.

Erin, I can give you the basic procedure.  If you understand web development using IIS this will be a breeze.  You can also solicit help from your web developer and/or your system admin person.  Here are the basic steps:

1. Create a shared folder for storing the PDFs you wish to make available through the gallery.  This folder could reside on your web server or on another server on your network that can be reached by from web server.

2. On your web server, create a virtual directory that points to the shared folder that houses the PDFs. You will need to setup your virtual folder to connect as a domain user that has read access to the virtual folder's physical shared folder.

3. Create an ArcGIS Online item for each of your PDF web URL established in step #2.  Here is an example of an ArcGIS Online item we created for a PDF in our gallery; http://fortlauderdale.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9ea410b6baae41e587e455d369754279

4. Create an ArcGIS Online group to which you will share the PDF ArcGIS Online items - also share the items as public as you would any webmap you wish to share to the public map gallery.

5. Find and record the ArcGIS Online group ID for the group to which the PDF items are shared using the group ID finder at https://servicesbeta.esri.com/demos/portal/portal_getGroup.html or at http://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/samples/portal_getgroupamd/

6. In the "settings.required.js" of the public map gallery template (in the config folder of version 1.4.1), enter the Group ID of the ArcGIS Online group to which the PDFs are shared.

Our website basically comprises two public map gallery templates, one for the applications, and a second for the PDFs.  And of course, contents in each gallery are shared to their own ArcGIS Online group.

Good luck.  I'm interested in seeing your gallery when you are done.
