In ArcEditor 10 I have enabled attachments and have attached some photos.  In ArcGIS Online I want to configure the pop up to display the photo.  How do I get the attached table uploaded to ArcGIS Online?  I have read that ArcGIS Online does not support related tables.  I am confused as to what the instructions at http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisonline/help/index.html#//010q0000004m000000 are refering to when it states "Check the box next to Show feature attachments as links if you want to provide hyperlinks to attachments at the bottom of the pop-up window. Attachments are supported as a related table to a feature class in a feature service."

Stephen Shepard - if you upload data to a hosted layer in arcgis online, I believe the attachments come with it. I'm not sure how ArcPad works with arcgis online, however.

Matthew Proctor-Brown - I agree with you. Ideally, you would not have to generate thumbnails yourself and the system would just handle it automatically.

Hi Mike.

So ArcPad data comes into ArcMap first.  Then can be published/uploaded as a feature service - I don't believe attachments are carried along.  Are you saying this isn't true?

If I added an attachment relationship to it - could this possible fix this?

I've not used ArcPad, so I'm not familiar with how it handles data. However, I did read some ArcPad documentation.

ArcMap will publish a geodatabase layer with attachments to ArcGIS Online, and take the attachments with it. So if this is what you have, it should work. However, from what I've read in the ArcPad documentation, it seems ArcPad doesn't support attachments from a geodatabase, using the ArcPad Data Manager: ArcPad Help

If you're using a photo layer in ArcPad, I don't think those photos will publish because they are not part of the geodatabase. Now if you can integrate them somehow...

re: thumbnail creation in ArcMap...Check out   snowballsteve/ArcGIS_Scripts · GitHub   I just downloaded this yesterday myself, so have not tested, but it has a tool for creating thumbnails in ArcMap...plus looks like a few other helpful utils..

Hello Mike,

Are there any update regarding this matter? Is it possible to show the attachments' thumbnails in the pop up now?

Hi,

Take a look at this document written by Jake Skinner. It will have a solution for how to display attachments in popups:
