I'm having more problems with my Manhattan addresses mapping to Brooklyn instead of Manhattan. I've uploaded a CSV with street address, city, state and postal (I use the address in multiple fields and all fields are mapped for upload).

When I click on a location the postal/zip always shows as a number (e.g., 10,004) but if try to edit it shows properly as a zip and  (no comma).

There are streets/avenues with the same name in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but shouldn't the zip code override all of that? What am I doing wrong?

Hi Lisa,

Please could you provide a little more information about your workflow?

  • Could you provide a couple of example addresses that are experiencing the issue?
  • Would you be able to provide a screenshot showing the format of the addresses within the CSV?
  • How are you uploading the CSV?
  • When you click on a location, and the zip shows as a number, is this in a pop-up in the Map Viewer?

Hi,

Here’s a screenshot of one of the pop-ups that mapped incorrectly (as Brooklyn vs. Manhattan). I uploaded the CSV with Street Address, City, State and Zip Code and mapped the fields (as addresses are located in multiple fields). My zips always show up as regular numbers (with a comma) in the pop-ups. There were several problematic addresses in this map though.

There are lots of 123 Main Street addresses, so you rely on City, State, Zip. Zip is the most specific identifier, so I’m not sure why it isn’t mapping properly to Manhattan.

I tried some iterations of the csv file to include more location info, i.e., I included the county in one upload (…NYC_Competitors2). Brooklyn is a different County, so I thought that would work, but it did not.

Ultimately I uploaded with Manhattan mapped as a Subregion, which finally worked (…NYC_Competitorsv3)
