Is there a way to make one (or more) layers in a Web App viewable for logged in users, but non-viewable for the public?

Hi folks!

As per the title - I'm setting up a Web App for a local community group. The Web App will (ideally) allow users to collect points of interest, as well as view and do some basic interrogation of layers.

What I need is to have one of the layers (which contains confidential information) be invisible to members of the public who will use the app, but be viewable to those users who have a login. Is there a way to do this for web apps?

I know there's a way to do it for web maps, but unfortunately I need the service to be a web app.

Cheers all,

Marty

EDIT:

I've stumbled upon a solution that looks to be exactly what I need here: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=1884d94a00074098add274c84c8209e2
