Easy Fix - How to log in to the same website simultaneously using multiple identities in IE8
I am sure other browsers will have a similar option

Thanks for providing this information. One way to get past this issue is to get your ArcGIS Online Organization admin to "Enable Esri" for your user account. Then you would be able to log into GeoNet with that account.
Joshua Giese & Ramchand Rao, any other ideas?
Hmmm . . . I do have the setting as you stated but still have the issue?
You didn't say which two types of browsers your tried, but I have had luck logging in to each with a different user/pass in Firefox....latest or fairly recent version.
also, even in Firefox, if you log onto AGOL first, and then try geonet, you may get an error
Click on the sign on using a different account, and it should let you sign in to geonet. if they are supposed to be the same username and password, then see Timothy Hales message above.
Rebecca,
I use the Firefox browser. I opened the first tab and logged into our Organizations AGOL account. I opened a second tab and tried to log into http://geonet.esri.com/ and I still get an error. I don't get the "Sign in using a different account" option like you?
Just so folks know, this is not a real big issue as I just open up IE or Chrome browser and open http://geonet.esri.com in it and carry on. . . LOL. It's more of a frustration and curious as to why question.
The email error is from GeoNet only allowing one email address to be associated with the community. Whereas multiple Esri Accounts can use the same address. In order to use the email address with another account on GeoNet you will need to change the email address in My Esri, and then log into GeoNet with that account for the platforms to sync. Go to your profile in GeoNet to confirm the address has been updated. Once this is confirmed, you can log into GeoNet with the other account using that email address.
Well it turns out that Firefox 33.0.2 is the culprit! I did what you suggested but Firefox still gave me the same error. Then I tried it in IE and it works. Typical "browser" compatibility issue! Thanx!
I get the same error if I use Chrome. The key seems to be opening a new browser. Opening a new browser can be avoided if you log into geonet first. My organization and geonet (Esri global account) use the same email but different usernames.
