how to publish a mobile app in ArcGIS Online

I uploaded some maps and feature services in ArcGIS Online, and  a web app can be published. I can use my iphone to login my ArcGIS.com and review the map after installing an arcgis plug-in, but it's the same as desktop. I need a real mobile app for the fields, and how can I publish a mobile app in ArcGIS Online?

By the way, I saw another plug-in from , named as GeoMobile for ArcGIS, should I use it for mobile app?

I'm not clear on what you're trying to do...

Here's the solution we have.

Esri offers three mobile apps that install in iOS (Apple), Android devices and Windows Phone. Links to the download pages of the apps are below.

• Apple iOS


• Android


• Windows Phone

Once you install an app on the device, you'll be able to sign into your account and open any Web Maps you authored. These web maps might reference the hosted services you've created.

Alternatively, if you don't want to download the app for your mobile device, you can still use the browser on the device instead and navigate to www.arcgis.com. The browser will also display your web maps, in a mobile form factor that fits the device.

Now, if you want to build your own mobile app that is downloaded from iTunes, Google Play or Windows Marketplace, that targets your maps and meant for your users, that's a different story. You'll need to write your own code to do this that leverages our mobile APIs. I couldn't tell you how to get it them posted to the various app stores. You might try posting questions in the mobile API forums.

I'm not familiar with GeoMobile for ArcGIS.

I downloaded the ArcGIS plug-in to my iphone from Appstore and tried the mobile app, it's excellent and totally same with desktop for reviewing the web map. It's exactly "One Map, any device".


But there is a " Mobile Apps" in the Gallery of ArcGIS Online, maybe I could create a mobile app to my orgnization as same as publishing a web app in ArcGIS.com. I don't know what kind of apps can be saved, created or published into the "Mobile Apps", and how?

GeoMobile for ArcGIS was published before the release of ArcGIS Online. There is an additional mobile app now available called GeoMobile for ArcGIS Online (http://www.webmapsolutions.com/arcgisonline). This is a mobile framework which allows the easy addition of widgets to the viewer, similar to the Flex viewer for ArcGIS.

We don't actually store mobile apps in ArcGIS Online. Instead, the mobile app item is simply contains a URL that should reference a web page where someone might get info on and download an app while on their mobile device.

Does this make sense to you?
