Hosted feature layer attribute changes break rendering?

I just edited some attribute values in a hosted feature layer, and that layer will no longer render in either Map Viewer or Map Viewer Classic. I tried it in two different browsers, changing the symbology and layer properties, refreshing the layer, opening it multiple different ways, and completely clearing my browser cache. It simply will not appear on the map, though its symbology is shown in the legend box. I have never experienced this issue before, so I am wondering if this is something the recent AGOL update broke.

I figured out that I had changed the attribute values being used for the symbology, and I simply had to update the symbology to use the new values. It was interesting to me that opening the layer in an untitled map retained the same symbology I had used for it in the previously saved map I was working in, rather than using a default non-attribute-based symbology in the new, untitled map. It might make sense to change this in a future update.
