There doesn't seem to be a way for accounts to create favorites in their gallery if they are not the author of a map or app. When the creator of the map or app is logged in, if you go to the Details of the map, you have the option to Add to favorites as described here: How to Create a List of Favorites from Your ArcGIS Online Items | ArcGIS Blog
However, if an account is logged in that is not the creator of the map or app this option does not come up; there is no star in the upper left corner of the map or app on the details page.
Is there a work around for this?
