I'm looking to get a better understanding on feature services and geometry. It seems that feature services do not hold their geometry fields in ArcGIS Online. I'm specifically interested in Shape.STLength() for ArcGIS for Server-hosted data, but have noticed that ArcGIS Online-hosted services published from file geodatabase format do not seem to hold any geometry data either. I could create a new field and populate it with the length values but that doesn't make things easy if new features are still being created. The map service however does retain those values, so my current work-around will be to go that route. Anyone have a simple explanation for this or can point me towards some info on this topic?
