When I add a base map layer (such as ESRI's World Imagery) to my Base Map Group, it does not show up on my web map app that is using the group to override the default ESRI base map list.
The only difference I see is that 'World Imagery' is a service instead of a 'Web Map' like the others in the group (which are: Streets, USA Topo Maps, and Bing Maps Hybrid).

I learned this URL override trick from previous post answer from Kelly Hutchins:  (http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/59363-ArcGIS.com-Web-Map-Problems)
"You can change the basemap choices when using the embedded map or Basic Viewer template but you'll have to append some url parameters to the url. To change the displayed basemaps you need to create an ArcGIS.com group that contains the basemaps you want to appear in the gallery. Once you've done this you can apply this information by adding the following parameters to your url. The basemapGroupOwner will be the owner of the new group you created and the basemapGroupTitle is the title."

The basemaps in the basemap group must be web maps.

Thanks,

Thanks.
Other than Bing, what web map can I use for imagery?

There is one other imagery service that Esri provides that's part of the standard basemaps.

Thanks,

But since it's a service, I can't use it in my base map group - correct?
So by customizing our base map list there is no way for people to print a map with an aerial photo background?
Thanks,
PJ

You can add a reference to any of these web maps in your group...

http://www.arcgis.com/home/group.html?owner=esri&title=ArcGIS%20Online%20Basemaps

Just go to the item page of the basemap you like, and use the share button to share it with your basemap group.

Thanks,

Mike

I did, but they don't show up on my map app.
Mute point because Printing the Bing imagery is working now 🙂
Thanks though.
