Allow access to see spatial reference easily for a layer in ArcGIS Online. For example, you can access the properties of a layer in ArcMap/ArcPro and find the Spatial Reference data easily there. We would like to suggest a feature like this in ArcGIS Online.
I would like to add a comment with some minor suggestions to elevate Spatial Reference to end users.
The steps to find the SD is onerous to say the least. 4 steps are required (Content of FL, Overview tab of details, View of URL on extreme bottom right) and scroll down to Spatial Reference. Then when you get there you have 4 - 6 numbers, and these don't even reference what repository they come from. Then, the user goes online and searches for the WKID. This is incredibly onerous to find where this data is?
With the modernization of the NSRS looming it will be even more important to readily expose the defined PCS for a layer online, even more so than stored on disk (and exposed in Pro).
Suggestions for improvement:
Expose SD directly on the Overview tab on right side "Service Definition Spatial Reference WKID <hyperlink> to repository.
If you must only store it in the Rest service directory, expose the verbose name "Web Mercator Auxillary Sphere WGS84" or Hyperlink to the WKID repository.
We have to deal on a daily basis not one, but dozens of Spatial Definitions. Digging this deep to Find the WHERE is key to Coordinate Systems and the future reference frames.
thanks for the opportunity to comment on this GREAT IDEA.
Additionally we need to see any embedded transformations the publisher of the layer has used (since we can't access the settings page of hosted layers we don't control!)
