While working with Esri staff on issues regarding editing a hosted feature class directly in Pro, continuous errors were arising. It was determined that this is due to the need to use the "Repair Geometry" analysis tool in Pro. However, this tool does not work on hosted feature classes. Rather it only works on locally-stored feature classes. It would be revelatory to a workflow in which editors are directly editing hosted feature classes if the Repair Geometry tool was available in ArcGIS Online and/or it was enabled for hosted feature classes.
I was looking into this recently and this is a great idea. I did notice that there is limited functionality depending on which license you have. I was trying to repair geometry on a hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Pro and this was the error. But this locked functionality wouldn't be of use since it's for enterprise.
I didn't realize this was a previous thread and has been simmering for awhile now: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-ideas/agol-hosted-feature-layer-check-and-repair/idc-p/1...
