Hi,

My problem is that I need to build a network between features between all the floors of a building. And if possible be able to do a network analysis in a 3D environment such as ArcScene.

I want to know if I can do 3D routing analysis in ArcScene 10? Do I need to build a geometric network or a network dataset? When I try to do routing analysis in ArcMap on a network dataset, I find that an error occurs at the vertical lines.

My questions are thus: Is it possible to do 3D analysis in ArcScene? Why does the vertical lines create errors? And finally, can I achieve my goal with a network dataset?

Network Analyst supports 3D routing. You can do the routing in ArcScene.

First you need to build a 3D Network Dataset of your building. If you have 3d edges, i.e., your features have x,y, and z locations, then a 3D network is created and then all the Network Analyst
solvers will work on that dataset.

All of this is descibed (with sample data) here:

Make sure to install the Network Analyst tutorial data to use with above instructions.
