If an alert condition changes states, it would be helpful if the alert stayed open and changed its state instead of closing and opening a new alert. If your alerting condition is occurring too close to an alert threshold, you get multiple alerts about the same problem as the alert state changes back and forth. For example, a warning alert will close, and then a critical alert opens. Then if the condition improves, the critical alert will close, and a warning alert will open. To me, this only needs one alert that stays open and changes its state. See attachments for an example of multiple alerts that lasted a few minutes each for a single condition. Some situations might need multiple alerts, so maybe there could be an option to configure when an alert closes.
