Webinar attendee submitted questions & answers:

Q1) Is it possible to integrate ArcGIS Monitor with Datadog?
A1) There is no direct integration between ArcGIS Monitor and 3rd party IT monitoring software like Datadog. But it is possible to export the collected data from the ArcGIS Monitor database and import into Datadog, but this would be a custom solution.

Q2) Does ArcGIS Monitor still use Mongo DB?
A2) No, ArcGIS Monitor 202x.x uses PostgreSQL for its underlying DBMS platform for the ArcGIS Monitor database. Learn more in this help topic.

Q3) How can I get an alert to close if it's resolved or isn't relevant?
A3) You can update the alert’s status in ArcGIS Monitor. This does not actually 'close' the alert, but will update its metadata so admins are aware it's been looked at. Please see this blog post to learn more.

Q4) Does the ArcGIS Monitor Agent have impact on system resources while it's collecting data?
A4) No, ArcGIS Monitor Agent does not affect host performance. Its usage of system resources is very minimal.

Q5) Do you have ArcGIS Monitor installed on its own server? If so, how did you convince your IT Dept. to do this?
A5) ArcGIS Monitor should be installed on its own host. The justification for this is because it needs to be separate from the enterprise GIS assets it is monitoring and actively collecting data from. If an enterprise GIS asset becomes unavailable, then Monitor will still be up and running and can tell you when the asset went offline.

Q6) Can you access server logs within ArcGIS Monitor?
A6) Yes, you can access GIS Server logs in Monitor for registered ArcGIS Server components. Under the Monitoring page > select the ArcGIS Server component > Logs subtab – this is where you can view its logs.

Q7) Does ArcGIS Monitor support exporting metrics to a format that could be consumed by external monitoring systems e.g. Prometheus/Grafana. Or more generally in any format at all?
A7) It is possible to export the collected data from the ArcGIS Monitor database and import into a different monitoring system, but this would be a custom solution.

Q8) Should we install one ArcGIS Monitor instance per environment (ex : dev, staging, prod) or install one ArcGIS Monitor to rule them all?
A8) One ArcGIS Monitor instance can collect and monitor multiple ArcGIS Enterprise deployments. Monitor can be the single console to quickly view metrics for your entire Enterprise GIS.

Q9) Can ArcGIS Monitor keep tabs on disk space usage on the host machines?
A9) Yes, for the storage component of the selected host, storage capacity metrics are collected by Monitor. Learn more in this help topic.

Q10) User statistics, who is using what services and webapps, is this possible?
A10) Not yet, but this feature enhancement is part of the 2026 Dev roadmap.

Q11) Just to verify, ArcGIS Monitor doesn't track stand-alone ArcGIS Servers?
A11) Incorrect. ArcGIS Monitor can collect metrics from stand-alone ArcGIS Server sites.

Q12) Can ArcGIS Monitor use some of the tags that are in enterprise portal to describe item types?
A12) No, ArcGIS Monitor does not use tags that are defined in enterprise portal.
