Location intelligence (LI) is achieved via visualization and analysis of geospatial data to empower understanding, insight, decision-making, and prediction. By adding layers of data—such as demographics, traffic, and weather—to a smart map, organizations gain location intelligence as they understand why things happen where they do.

A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data. Rooted in the science of geography, GIS integrates many types of data. It analyzes spatial location and organizes layers of information into visualizations using maps and 3D scenes. With this unique capability, GIS reveals deeper insights into data, such as patterns, relationships, and situations—helping users make smarter decisions.

ArcGIS for Maritime: Bathymetry provides a port with a bathymetry management solution. Using metadata associated with survey data, ports can develop a seamless surface for pilots to better understand where they can navigate safely and for channel development to design and plan dredging and maintenance activities.

This stunning Story Map created by ArcGIS for Maritime's Caitlyn Raines, will further elucidate the ways in which ports are using Esri Maritime technology, and what the future holds!
