ArcGIS Maritime Global Consultant, Rafael Ponce, graduated from the Mexican Naval Academy, served 25 years in the Mexican Navy, serving in different posts onboard destroyers, oceanic patrol ships and dredging ships and CO of the Hydrographic ship ARM Rio Tuxpan. Ponce retired as a Captain.
He holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and is a category A hydrographer. Mr. Ponce was the deputy director of the Mexican Hydrographic Office, during that time represented Mexico at several IHO committees and working groups and was a candidate to the IHO Director position in 2017.
He has worked for Esri since 2007 and is currently the company’s global maritime consultant.
