We want to inform our customers about an upcoming change in ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. Starting with the October 2024 release, the 'Legacy' mapping profile setting will be officially retired.
Why is Legacy mapping profile being retired?
The 'Legacy' mapping profile, found in the application setting in the Compilation and Mapboard panels, is being retired. This setting provides access to VectorStreetMap and Natural Earth vector basemaps that are unique to Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. In 2021, the 'Default' mapping profile setting was introduced, which expanded basemap options by providing access to Esri’s Vector tile basemaps. The 'Default' mapping profile offers a wider variety of basemaps and improved functionality. Additionally, the underlying ArcMap/ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.x framework supporting the 'Legacy' mapping profile reached its end of support on January 1, 2024.
What is the recommended transition?
We recommend that customers switch to the 'Default' mapping profile setting in Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. This setting offers a wide range of Esri's vector tile basemaps, which are authoritative, well-designed, and readily available directly in the application. Please note that the Natural Earth layers will continue to remain accessible through Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. However, customers are highly encouraged to transition to the ‘Default’ mapping profile setting to leverage the vector tile basemaps as documented in this blog.
If this is not already set as your default, please select 'Default profile' as the recommended setting.
The following is a wide selection of Esri's vector tile basemaps that are available with the 'Default' setting.
Important Dates for the Legacy mapping profile:
