Rotating point feature symbols and map reprojection

Hi,

We have 1000's of feature point symbols representing geological structures such as strike and dip.

I can display these correctly with a rotation applied from an attribute.

However, our dataset covers many UTM zones and so needs to maintain the correct orientation with respect to north as the map is reprojected. when this is done the symbol does not rotate in line with the grid.

This would not usually be a big issue but we are also dealing with northern latitudes where convergence of lines of longitude magnifies the effect.

We are at present getting around this by turning the point data into actual line features which then are automatically reprojected along with the rest of the map.

Does anyone know of a way to have Arc also reproject point features and their attributes or is this something that ESRI has never considered? if so is it worth raising as an idea for integration into future versions?
