Hello,

Annotation feature classes have a reference scale and it defines when class is created. At charts which created at reference scale, properties of annotation like leading, alignments are fit to the display but for the other scales updating annotation change its properties but is not enough to display correct form of annotation. Some properties also needs to be edited at expression to get the standard display of the annotation for this scale. Is there anyway to make annotation's independency out of reference scale or any other option to tell ArcMap to make correct changes to annotation properties ?

Thanks.

Hey Yusef,

For annotation, the answer will always depend on the use case for creating the annotation.  If you are using the Create Feature Linked Annotation or Create Non-Feature Linked Annotation tools provided with ArcGIS for Aviation, there is functionality built into those tools that should be handling the annotation transformation based on the scale differences between the reference scale of the annotation feature class and that set on the Data Frame and subsequent (Product Library) Instance.  There is also an Update Annotation tool which will refresh the current annotation against its source feature class and any label expressions you may also have configured.  If these are the tools you are using in your own environment and you are still seeing the issues with annotation feature not being updated appropriately, please submit a customer incident through customer support for us to evaluate the workflow and identify any changes with the software that need to be made; or perhaps make suggestions about your current configuration that may help resolve the issues as well.

The ArcGIS for Aviation tools are designed with multiple annotation features being created for all of you products regardless of scale within a single annotation feature class.

Hi Team,

"there is functionality built into those tools that should be handling the annotation transformation based on the scale differences between the reference scale of the annotation feature class and that set on the Data Frame and subsequent (Product Library) Instance. There is also an Update Annotation tool which will refresh the current annotation against its source feature class and any label expressions you may also have configured. " Yes, it is the case as you mentioned.

Aviation products works properly, update annotation tool makes necessary changes but I'd like to share a detail or maybe a bug or maybe as a team you designed to work this tool like that way is; tool looks when a different scale is being used for charting, it seems it just searches the size value on the script at visual specifications rules, scales the values up to new scale. Up to this point everything is fine.

But if you have values like LIN or Horizontal or vertical offset which are the important parameters for the annotation design and the parameters of the element placement, these values are not updated up to new scale so you lost the annotation design. Maybe usage of the system can be change or when creating a new annotation feature class we need to use it out of scale or must be a way to make it dynamic up to scale.

Any help would be useful for the subject.

Thanks.
