We've an Instant App Sidebar application on which public users can create a polygon and/or point and save to our own SDE SQL Server feature.
This is working very much as desired, but the back office folk who commissioned it have asked if we can add (a) text that tells the user that their edit has completed successfully ("Thank you for submitting this data" or similar), and also (b) for some extra text that warns the user that their addition won't be displayed on the associated map once they've saved it - we've allowed for only CREATE capability on the feature and will not be displaying either existing submitted data or that just added in the most recent transaction. Some public respondents have been in contact to highlight these situations, and they seem to be good usability additions if we can provide them.
Having looked around the app configuration this morning, I can see no easy way of adding text into that panel: it appears only when you toggle the 'Edit tools' button, and seems to be driven entirely by content from the underlying feature, so you see the icons for the polygon, or the point category symbologies for the point feature, and nothing else, and no means to add in further explanatory text.
Has anybody else found themselves in this situation when deploying a public-facing Instant App with edit/create capabilities ? Does anyone know if it's possible to add text content into that panel ?
Thanks
Thanks for reaching out about this. I am looking into the first request about having a message appear after an edit is saved.
For the second request, you might be able to complete that now in your web map using the smart forms. In the smart form you can add additional messaging that appears while folks are editing in your Sidebar app.
Thanks again for reaching out, let me know if you have any questions.
