ArcGIS online Finder Template Feature zoom and clear previous selection

Using the templates from ArcGIS online I went and published the map and then decided to create a mapping application from their convenient templates.  The only layer I have is routes.  When I use the magnifying glass and find the route by number, then select it zooms to it, then type in another route and zoom to that, I noticed that the previous selection remains highlighted (shown in the dark blue in the image below.  A little difficult to see but routes 11, 12 and 8A are all selected still.  I would like for users to be able to select the route, zoom and then when a new route is entered just do the same, not keep all searched routes.  Any way to accomplish this?
