Hello everyone,  I am new to ArcGIS indoors, seeking some assistance to configure CAD floor plan mappings and metadata.

I and in process to import floor plan into the indoors model.

But I am not 100% sure on best way to prepare the Config_CAD_Indoors_Template.xlsx

In terms of data, I have set of CAD drawings for 2 building in DWG format. I have used AutoCAD to export the layers data using EXTRACTDATA utility. Which export the xls file with heaps of information of designs, that includes name of Layers, file name and other related attributes.

Going through documentation at the links below, I am getting confused on placing right design layer name in Config_CAD_Indoors_Template.xlsx sheets.

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/indoors/map-floor-plans-to-indoors.htm
https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/indoors/cad-floor-plan-template-file.htm
https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/indoors/indoor-dataset-schema.htm

Has anyone ever struggled preparing the Config_CAD_Indoors_Template.xlsx ?

Or is it just me?

Hi @ankit

I think it's critical to know the status/format your CAD is in, layer by layer, and know what exact layer you need to use for Units, Levels, and Facilities features for the configuration sheet - GP tool to extract and process.

For a CAD review and assessment, consider using the resource page below and see if your existing CAD closely matches the style and format criteria.

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/indoors/cad-floor-plan-drawings.htm

Also, ArcGIS Pro 3.2 introduced the "Import CAD To Indoor Dataset" new GP tool, where you can load the CAD to the Map view and select proper parameters directly instead of using the configuration sheet.

Hi @ankit

Esri Academy's ArcGIS Indoors: Loading Floor Plan Data web course guides you through the Excel configuration process with sample CAD data.

https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/5ecd6ae0dbabbe0afc9feb81/arcgis-indoors-loading-floor-plan-dat...

I hope you can take the course and learn the reviewing/configuring process before you dive into processing your data.

Hi @Jinho_Kang

I have done this course. Extracting layers from DWG and mapping those layers with feature class is not straight forward.

Pretty all the arcgis indoors documentation and courses are built with the reference of one example CAD (Redlands).

If there are different CAD designs and config template examples exists, please share.

I wish if there would be a way ArcGIS pro can load DWG and allow to create config inside the app or config get's created on the fly with some inputs from user.

Thanks

Thanks @Jinho_Kang appreciate your speedy response.  I will try the Import CAD To Indoor Dataset (Indoors) tool. The CAD design of a building is comprised of 16 DWG files, it is challenging to get info from each layer and map.

I will give it a shot now. Thanks for your assistance.

hi

I successfully completed the course and transferred the CAD data to the indoor layer, but the filter layer is not appearing.
Can you help me?
I am new to the indoor tool

Hi @emreaktas1

Could you share screenshots of any GP tool errors, floor-aware widget setup, or the Pro's Map with how you set up the floor filter?

Hi @emreaktas1

Did you modify/delete the LEVEL_ID schema field by chance?
That's the most likely reason why the floor widget cannot detect the proper floor layer.

Please check if the indoor feature classes have intact SITE_ID, FACILITY_ID, and LEVEL_ID field schema names.
