ETA on updated samples and documentation for ArcGIS Mobile 3.0?

When might we expect fully updated documentation and samples for Mobile 3.0 SDK (Windows / Windows Mobile)?  Many of the samples won't work since they are the sames ones shipped with v10.0.  Some of the documentation still refers to the old way of doing things (map1.CurrentMapAction and SelectionGraphicLayer for instance).

While it's exciting to gain some new functionality, it's frustrating to try to implement the changes with sub-par documentation and samples.

Thanks,

Doug

I'm in the same boat here.

I'm trying to upgrade a custom extension to v3.0 but my extension is not showing up in the capabilities section in mobile project center. The project is compiling fine and I'm deploying the .dll to <ArcGIS install-directory>\Mobile3.0\bin\extensions folder. All the samples/documentation online are written for v10.0 so I'm wondering if the deployment strategies have changed in v3.0

Hi,

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience in locating the ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 documentation.  There was an issue with the links on the Resource Center last week, which meant that some documents were still pointing to the Beta site.  This has since been corrected.  The links for the Applications: http://links.esri.com/en/offcyclestartpg_winmob and for the SDK/App framework: http://links.esri.com/en/offcyclestartpg_winmobsdk.

We are continually working on updates to these documents.  As for the ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 samples, we are working on getting them out on the web. However, there are a few that have been put up. Please check this Mobile Blog article on one of the samples which can be found here: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2012/06/22/mapping-underground-assets-using-arcgis-for-windows-mob....  Also, we have an Inspection sample which can be found here:

Denise,

Thanks for the response, but unfortunately it appears the links to download the samples are still pointing to 10.0 as shown below.

Doug,

Yes, there are still some ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 samples with links to the 10.0 content. Please know that we  are working on  getting the updated samples for 3.0 content out on the web. There are a couple up now including these mentioned in this Mobile Blog article on one of the samples which  can be found here: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/20...indows-mobile/.  Also, we have an Inspection sample which can be found here:
WM: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html...4ed35275b1769d
Win: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html...6e4211c202fe56

We will work to add more ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 samples in the near future.

Cheers,
Denise

I have to echo this.  I could not make my 10 cusomized extension working since I am having hard time to add the extension to MPC.  I do not know which part to change.  I even created a new project using the new template and it did not work.  At this moment I can not do much considering all the samples/documents do not help at all for this case.  I am going to submit a help request to ESRI and ask them to give me a simpe sample whcih will add extention assembly to the mobile project.

3.0 has a feature we need badly, which is saving domain filed with null value.  Even though it only works for coded domain field.  User still needs to enter a value to range domain field.

Hopfully ESRI will update document/sample to 3.0 and we will have something to use.

Thanks

I figured this out based on Denise's reply.  In 3.0  MPC extension has to be saved to a different location.  Here is the part I got from sample Denise gave.  I followed it and got my extension displayed in MPC.

3. Prepare a project in MPC
a. Copy Extensions folder into C:\ProgramData\ESRI\MobileProjectCenter\Extensions (Win7) or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESRI\MobileProjectCenter\Extensions (WinXP)
Note: ProgramData folder(Win7)  and Application Data folder (WinXP) are hidden folders. They are accessible by entering  %APPDATA%  for WinXP machines or %ProgramData% for Win7 machines on Address Bar.

Also You may want to use template to create a new MPC project.  I do not think lot of code in 10 is still useful in 3.0.  My is from new template and there is no readxml and other stuff.  I could be wrong since I have no document to go by.

Happy coding!

Denise,

Thanks for the response, but the links you do provide for 3.0 are not for any SDK samples, which is what I am using

I can't get the selection map action and selection graphic layer to work like they did in 10.0.

EXAMPLE: If I have 5 features, and I select features 1,2,3, they highlight correctly on the map.  Then, if I separately select features 4 and 5, the previously selected features 1,2,3 don't clear, they stay highlighted on the map.  The actual selected features is just the two I have selected, but the graphics don't accurately show what is selected.

Do have any sample code regarding the correct way to configure and wire up these two objects so they will work properly as they did in v10.0? I know I must be doing something pretty dumb to be running into this.

Thanks,

Doug

I was just wondering if ESRI has a plans to update the documentation(specifically the samples) for ArcGIS Mobile API to version 3.0. It appears the samples that Doug linked to above are all still for version 10.0. Its been several months since v3.0 has been released and I've been postponing updating client code until documentation is available but its been 3 months and still no updated code samples.

So with that, is there an ETA for updating the ArcGIS Mobile Resource Center fully to reflect version 3.0? Thanks!
