Many missing functions in ESRI Maps For Cognos 5.0.1, compared to Ver4. Is it True?

Hello,

Any one who has used EM4c version 5.0.1, can you please advise, if you are able to see and use the interaction between Map and the charts/tables.

We were able to do everything in our version 4.0 reports, as in the demo videos at http://www.esri.com/software/location-analytics/esri-maps-for-ibm-cognos/resources

It seems like the videos only represent the previous version and none of those functionalities exist in the newer version (5.0.1)

For example, the double click interaction is not available, Legend, advanced selection tools, and ability to reset the selection to all (or unselect the region) when a click trigger is selected.
There are some equivalent functionalities in the new version, but they are not good as in the previous version.

Also, when there is an interaction, the report comes back with the selection in the cognos charts/tables almost instantly, but the (simple)map takes around 5 second to load.


I could not believe it, thats why I am asking this forum to see if anyone have used those interactions functionalities fully available in this newer version.
Please advise.

Hi,

  You are correct in your assertion that there is a functionality delta between the 4.3.2 and 5.x releases. The main reason for this was that additional platforms were introduced (MicroStrategy, BusinessObjects, etc) and a standardization of the UI took place. With this effort, some features were not included. Bringing the Esri Maps for Cognos functionality back to the baseline is the major focus for the next release of Esri Maps for Cognos. These added features will also be brought forward to the newer versions of the other platforms as well.

That did help us to plan alternate ways using current EM4c version to complete our immediate deliveries.

Can you please post when we can expect the next release with all those Cognos interaction functionalities.

Hi Daniel, we currently anticipate the next release of Esri Maps for IBM Cognos to be available late Q3 2014. As part of that release, many of the larger, high priority, feature gaps will be closed.
