Hi All,

On Cognos 10.2.1, ESRI 6 is installed. When report is exported to PDF version in Non-SSL environment there is no issue

The map is not showing up when exported to PDF version in SSL environment, anyone faced the similar issue?

Thanks,

Praveen

Hi Praveen -

We're currently testing EM4C v6.0 with Cognos 10.2.1 FP3 over https in Chrome. You get further than we do with the PDF output functionality as we just get stuck with a timer in the middle of the report window (also get this with the Excel run option and Snapshot functionality too). Did you make any additional config settings to produce the PDF?

Have to say there's some disappointment here with the product so far as it just seems to be v5.0 with improved stability (currently running v4.3.2 in the production environment). How you finding it generally?

Thanks

Gary

Hello Gary,

No I didn't make any config change for PDF setting. Are you running the cognos service on service account. To run the report in the PDF, ESRI save the repor(Map) locally first then get pick it from same location to show it on PDF.

Thanks,

Praveen

Hi Praveen,

Is your SSL environment using IBM Cognos BI 10.2.1?  IBM Cognos BI 10.2.1 has a defect which prevents the loading of images using relative URL through HTTP requests. This issue is described in APAR PM92524 and fixes are available. The issue is fixed in IBM Cognos BI 10.2.1.1 (IBM Cognos 10.2 Refresh Pack 1 Fixpack 1) as well.

There is a workaround:

Manually change the URL to the map image in the Properties in Report Studio. Currently the URL to the image starts with a relative path “../em4c/”.  The workaround will update this URL to start with the URL “/ibmcognos/em4c/”, where “ibmcognos” is the name of the webserver’s virtual directory used by IBM Cognos.

It must be understood that this will not work when users decide to move the IBM Cognos content from environment to environment if the IBM Cognos virtual directories change, as the paths are now hard coded.  This is the reason the relative path method is used to retrieve the image URL.
