Hello All,

I am exploring ways to incorporate ESRI map data published via ArcGIS server into Cognos, and in relation to that I am interested in using ESRI maps for Cognos. It's not clear if ESRI maps for cognos works with services published using ArcGIS server or if it only works with ArcGIS Online. Our requirements constrain us from using ArcGIS online, because we are working with confidential data and want to keep everything in house and on our servers. Is anyone on this forum using services published with ArcGIS server in the ESRI Maps for Cognos? If so please let me know. If you have any other suggestions / comments on this issue please feel free to reply as well. I am new to Cognos but well versed GIS. Any / all help is welcome, thanks in advance.

Esri Maps for IBM Cognos also works in the on-premisis scenario, in conjunction with Portal for ArcGIS instead of ArcGIS Online.

The Esri Maps for IBM Cognos 5.x release is highly integrated with ArcGIS Online or your on-premises Portal for ArcGIS solution.  You are able to add ArcGIS Server map services to the Esri Maps for IBM Cognos map object; however, you will need to add it through either ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.

In addition, to display your IBM Cognos data on the map object you will need to be able to access either the ArcGIS Online World Geocode Service or have your own geocode service configured via Portal for ArcGIS.

I hope the links below will be helpful in your future use of Esri Maps for IBM Cognos:

Hello PierreSeguin and CoverdaleJAG,

Thanks for replying, at the moment we have abandoned our plans of proceeding with Cognos, however it's good to know above information. It seems I cannot mark answered for both of your responses so sorry about, I have marked earliest answer, however I do appreciate additional information provided by CoverdaleJAG, unfortunately the responses came almost a month after I posted the question so I had stopped following it.

Best,
Ashwini
