Hi

I have been trying to connect to ArcGIS Enterprise in ArcGIS Maps for Power BI, but I am always getting a message that is an invalid url. I am using the format: https://sampleportal.xyz.com/portal as specified in the documentation but not success. Is there additional configuration needed to link ArcGIS Enterprise with Power BI?. I am running ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 with SAML.

Thanks,

Andres

Hello there! Could you confirm the version of ArcGIS Enterprise you are currently using? Is it a fully deployed base deployment (portal, server, datastore) and is it accessible online?

Hi @AndresEcheverri

If your Enterprise is unavailable to the internet then you will be unable to use it to sign in to ArcGIS Maps for Power BI.

"ArcGIS for Power BI supports versions 10.7.1 and later of ArcGIS Enterprise in an online environment only. ArcGIS for Power BI does not operate in a disconnected environment." - https://doc.arcgis.com/en/power-bi/get-started/supported-env.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_2E77582CD0A54DFE911C0...

Hi @JonEmch  or @BenCoubrough , what do you mean by "accessible online"? We have a portal that is accessible when using our company internet/vpn, but the portal is not available to those outside of our network. Is there a way to connect our online but internal portal environment to PowerBI?

Perhaps something similar to how we would need to allow the survey123 site to access our portal in order to use the Survey123 Report functionality?

We are on Enterprise 10.8.1 by the way.

Thanks!

Hey there Brendan,

So in your case this ArcGIS Enterprise is inaccessible online. See here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/power-bi/get-started/supported-env.htm

"*This version of ArcGIS for Power BI supports versions 10.7.1 and later of ArcGIS Enterprise in an online environment only. ArcGIS for Power BI does not operate in a disconnected environment."

This being said, I have seen certain scenarios where making rules in the VPN enabled the app to work. I am not 100% sure of these configurations (as they are different in every org). I'll research this a bit more.

Hello there,

Would you be able to confirm if your 10.8.1 enterprise deployment is fully deployed and available to the internet? SAML is a supported authentication type per https://doc.arcgis.com/en/power-bi/get-started/supported-env.htm so I don't think there are any other steps needed here.

Hi @JonEmch

Our Enterprise is fully deployed, but not available to the internet.

Thanks @BenCoubrough

Do you know if there are plans to allow ArcGIS for Power BI to work offline?.
