Hello,

We have a standalone table within SDE that is published to our Enterprise Portal so that users can update data through the ArcGIS for Excel desktop add-in. As of last Friday (8/10/2024) we had no issues with edits and updates, but this week those users with Editor User types within our portal are no longer able to add the table from the service to Excel. The admin account that published and owns the feature can add with no issues. Verified that those same Editor user types can add the service through Pro or Web app and make updates. Did something change?

Good afternoon @Seamus1Mills , I can confirm nothing has changed from ArcGIS for Excel's side of production. Our current version is ArcGIS for Excel (2024.2.0.0.29). Did you think your team perhaps upgraded the Enterprise version? Has anyone changed permission for the SDE database?

Thank you kindly,

SC

Thank you for the response @ShannonCardoza. I can confirm that nothing has changed as far as permissions configuration or our Enterprise version (we are on 11.1). I know that there are plans to restructure the Portal and AGOL User and Role types by ESRI and thought that it may be related to that. I tested different configurations of users within Portal and also desktop Pro edit capabilities. The initial configuration was an Editor user type with Data Editor role. That same user setup is able to bring the feature service into Pro and make edits so I don't believe it is permissions based. But now only a Creator user type with an Administrator role is able to bring the table from the service into Excel using the add-in. This isn't conducive to our Portal member permissions policy as we only want these users to have table edit capabilities through the add-in and not be able to alter anything within Portal.

Good morning @Seamus1Mills,

For ArcGIS version 11.1 (WIN) here is the link to the User types, roles, and privileges. If you navigate to the link you may select different versions and OS.

If the assigned roles have not changed I would double-check the User types. As you mentioned, Esri has restructured the different User types and role configurations in the last few weeks. Lastly, are you able to contact Esri Support Services at 888-377-4575? It maybe helpful to chat with one our Support Analyst.

Thank you kindly,
