I have been bugging the ArcGIS for Office group for years to allow me to see the data form a service in excel.  I even met them in person.  It would be so cool to just add a service URL in excel and see the table. I try really hard to not do exports in my workflows.  Just an antiquated workflow.  I have been trying to use the Office integration since the day it came out.  All of my use cases are seeing data in excel and not once has anyone wanted a map in excel.

This would be a home run!  Please consider its been so many, many years now.

Thanks

How do you feel about Python? You could have a super simple Python tool that takes a feature service URL and spits out a spreadsheet of its features.

Agree with this. Not sure we have much use for viewing maps in Excel but the ability to view or even edit AGOL data in Excel would be fantastic. I don't know if the tools in Power Automate would allow you to set up flows to keep a dataset in Excel up to date with edits from AGOL but not sure how efficient that would be and the suggestion above of using python may be quicker.

@DougBrowning & @AnthonyJonesRSK  - keep an eye out for some new capabilities that will be released shortly. If you will be attending the upcoming User Conference, please stop by the ArcGIS for Excel kiosk in the Apps area.

We might be able to show you some desired functionality....

Thanks for the teaser Sean, sounds interesting! Will definitely keep an eye on the user conference. Cheers

It works!  Added my public data right at the kiosk at UC.  Simply search add then all my data came into Excel.  I have almost 300 fields and 50,000 rows and it loaded pretty fast.  Plus you can edit right in excel and it syncs edits to the service.  It also does drop-down for any domains.

Great job team!

This sounds amazing! Great addition guys. Unfortunately I'm based in the UK so am not able to attend! @SeanKMcGinnis, when will this functionality be made available?

Thanks

Anthony

@AnthonyJonesRSK - it is available! If you open the map in ArcGIS for Excel and add data from ArcGIS, you will see a switch that asks if you would like to add the attribute table. If you select that, it will bring the records into the spreadsheet and you can begin editing.

@SeanKMcGinnis it seems that you cannot use tables?  It only seems to show Feature Classes.  We have a ton of related tables.  Will this be added?

Also can you add a filter for Authoritative please.  Our main layer is getting buried down the list.

thanks

@doug Hi there! To jump on into this convo between Sean and yourself. We can use tables but do you mean the attribute tables brought in from an ArcGIS Online feature layer or are you referring to an Excel table?

P.s I have taken note of your request to add a filter for Authoritative data.

All the best,

Shannon

It now allows for seeing Feature Service data in excel.  But AGOL hosted tables are not listed in the choices at all when you are adding the attribute table.  I have a service with several feature services and tables but it only lists the FS.  Adding tables would be sweet!  We have a lot of them.  Also we plan to use this to edit our QA errors list and that is just a table.

thanks a lot
