Make life easier with ArcGIS for Excel error log

ArcGIS for Excel error logs are intended to serve as an additional resource when troubleshooting error messages while working with the add-in, in the Excel environment. The information in this log will help identify the error cause and provide context on why the error occurred and how to potentially solve it.    

It is important to note that these error messages can occur from Microsoft Excel or from the ArcGIS for Excel add-in, therefore some links may redirect to the Microsoft website.   

Microsoft Excel errors 

Errors that may occur when working in Excel.  

Category:	Function:	Error output:	Error description:	Cause & Solution:
Error	Function Builder	#CALC	Unliftable Array: Array cannot be lifted over to call a function on individual array members.	It occurs when a user inputs an array/group of cells (e.g., A1:C5) into the input parameter, when Excel was expecting only one cell (e.g., A1) for this parameter.
Error	Function Builder	#VALUE!	Generic	A value used in the formula is of the wrong data type.
Info	Function Builder	#BUSY!	Please wait for the formula to be calculated.
Warning	Function Builder	#NAME?	Invalid name	There is a typo in the function name. Note that this error is supported as a custom function input error, but not as a custom function output error.
Warning	Function Builder	#REF!	Invalid reference	The function refers to an invalid cell. Note that this error is supported as a custom function input error, but not as a custom function output error.
Warning	Function Builder	#VALUE!	Invalid value	A value in the formula is of the wrong type.
Warning	Function Builder	#N/A	Not available	A value in the formula is of the wrong type.
Error	Function Builder	#SPILL	Generic	Excel formula wants to display its output in surrounding cells (spilling output over to other cells), but there is no space, or the other cells are somehow off-limits (e.g., in an Excel table).

Warning	Buffer/Drive Time/Infographics	Additional permissions are required to use this feature.	Contact your organization administrator.
Error	Add Artic Bathymetry basemap	The basemap could not be loaded. Check the basemap service or select a different basemap.	The Vector Tile Basemap has been replaced as they are not supported by the browser.
