When I'm not logged into Field Maps, clicking on a URL in the format https://fieldmaps.arcgis.app/?itemID=<myitemID>&referenceContext=open&portalURL=https%3A%2F%2F<myorg... shows the message
"Unable to open
The map needs to be shared with you"
After logging in, I am able to open the field map by clicking on the link.
The URL has been generated from the Field Maps Designer > Sharing page. The Web Map is hosted on ArcGIS Online.
The portalURL documentation states that the user will be "taken directly to the sign-in screen for your organization and prompted to sign in"
Any tips on how I can get this to prompt me to sign-in rather than showing this error message?
Hello @NigelCharman , what device and Field Maps version are you seeing this problem on? It is true that the intention is to take you to the sign in page if the portalURL does not match the current portal (or there isnt one).
It's Field Maps 24.2.2 Build 1512 on a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, Android 14. Thanks.
I dont see the same issue using a map in our AGOL organization and the link from the Sharing page. If I am signed out of Field Maps it will take me directly to the sign in page and the portalURL that was passed is listed at the top of the sign in screen. What happens if you sign in manually and follow this same link? Have you tried clearing the app data or reinstalling the app?
Hi, the link works fine after signing in manually.
I think the problem is occurring since I'm also using public maps anonymously. Here's what I've found:
I'm assuming it should still prompt for sign in, even if I've previously skipped sign in to open other maps.
Let me know if you want me to investigate any further or send you the links or logs?
I can actually reproduce this if I use "skip sign in" as well. It must not be looking at this "temp" portal as it would any other when executing the app link. I can get something logged to look into this further. Thanks for brining it up!
