Only polygon appearing in initial pop-up (android issue)

Hi,

We are seeing unusual behaviour on Android:

  1. Pan map
  2. Click on location with points, lines and polygons.
  3. Only the polygons appear in pop-up.
    • Pan map again or interact with the map. Polygons appear and update in pop-up list. Points and lines do no
  4. Close the pop-up pane
  5. Repeat step 3 without panning, interacting at same location - points, lines and polygons appear
  6. Repeat from step 1 - panning the map - only the polygons appear

Issue is unique to Field Maps on Android. Tested Pixel 6 Pro, Samsung galaxy. 5 devices impacted. Tested several maps.

iOS seems to not want to show the point on first click either but subsequent interactions are OK without closing the pop-up.

@ChrisDunn1 is this something you're aware of?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi @ChristopherCounsell,

When you pan the map and then tap on the map, how quickly are you tapping?

When you pan, the app sends out a request for features in the new extent you've panned to, so if you tap very quickly it's possible not all of the features have come back yet which is why they are't all appearing in the list. This could be especially noticeable if any of your layers are slow to load or if you have a lot of layers. If you use the same map and pan it, but then wait several seconds before tapping on the map, do you see the same issue? You could also test with an offline area - because all of the features exist locally you should not be able to reproduce the issue with an offline map (if you can, then there may be something else going on).

Hi Chris,

The features are visible in the map. The pan is not aggressively fast.

One the pop up is open, on Android, subsequent clicks will only load the
POLYGON layers. This happens no matter what you do. Until the pop-up is
closed, tap the same location, then all the layers appear as expected.

The behaviour isn't consistent with iOS. Second tap loads all the features
without needing to close the popup. That's annoying and not behaviour we
saw earlier in the year.

Our field staff do over 100 feature edits a day. Expectation is they click
a visible point feature and it'll appear in the pop-up.

Cheers
Chris

Support case number 04068005, there are screen captures and a meeting recording.

There's no logic to it - pop-ups on Android just don't appear to be working as expected on at least 6 maps for us across 5 devices.

video of the behaviour

clicking on the map won't show features in the pop-up when the map when the map is panned, until the pop-up is closed. iOS handles it fine.

@ChristopherCounsell I haven't been able to reproduce this with my own map. Is this map also shared with the arcgisfieldmaps user?

@ChrisDunn1 thanks for taking a look at this.

'android pop up testing'

This map was made by creating new layers via the ArcGIS Online > New Item > From template. Created the features in the Map Viewer. Disabled editing to share publicly.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 6 Pro and at least 1-2 other devices

Field Maps 25.3.1 and 25.3.0

We've been able to reproduce it on every map I've tried so far.

The only notable map configuration is that they have 3+ layers with at least 1-2 polygon layers; that the polygons refresh but the lines/points do not may be reflective of the issue. I haven't tested it on maps with only one layer. There's no reason to suggest a particular configuration of the layers or pop-ups themselves is causing issue - they do load, and it otherwise works fine on iOS / Map Viewer.
