Closing the loop here. We deployed a fix for this today which should be available momentarily in the google play store as Field Maps version 23.1.1. If others are running into this issue please ensure you update Field Maps.

Regards,
Colin

Hello Collin,

My name is Jake, I'm a Product Engineer on the Field Apps Team, thanks for sending along the log file. I have a few questions to help us get this figured out:

  • What kind of Android device are you using?
  • Can you test with iOS?
  • Are you using IPS or GPS?
  • Are you enabled location sharing from the browse screen (my tracks card) or from the GPS details within a web map?
    • If from a web map, can you tell us a little bit about the layers in the web map?

Thanks-

-Jake

Hi Jake,

We are using Android with GPS. It happens only on Android.

My colleague tested the iOs version (build 984) and that went well.

I'm enabling tracking from the browse screen and it crashes within seconds. It is also crashing from the gps details within the webmap.

We are using RD_NEW (28992) coord system, if that is of any help.

Thanks Collin, what was the previous version of Field Maps you upgraded from?  Was it 22.4.2, or something earlier?

Not exactly sure, I remember 22.4...., but not sure if it was 22.4.2 or 22.4.1

Thanks for your patience Collin, we are dialing in: are you seeing this issue on multiple Android devices, or just one (so far)?

We think the Android devices local tracker.geodatabase failed to upgrade (hopefully a rare occurrence).

The easy fix is to clear out Field Maps local data:

  1. Close Field Maps
  2. Settings -> Apps -> Field Maps -> Storage -> Clear data

The next time you open Field Maps - it will recreate the local tracker.geodatabase automatically.

You should be good to go after that, let us know if you have any more trouble

On behalf of the Field Apps Team,

-Jake

Hi Jake,

We have this issue on every device where this new version has been installed.

I've tested your preposed fix, but it still crashes.

Collin.
