Enable Search By Layer - not working with secured editable feature service

Hello,

Our water folks are using field maps to update water meter numbers and locations. I set this up about two years ago and it has been a stellar easy to use app. The original setup in the web map under Settings-->Application settings--> Enable search--> By Layer in which I could chose our secured editable water meter layer to search using several fields.

Today I noticed that our secured editable feature service is no longer a choice even though that layer resides in the map. The other layers do show but I don't use those for search. It somehow defaulted to Municipal Boundary layer for my three fields I originally set up for water meter attributes.

Maybe it's our older architecture? We publish on an old GIS server using Pro 2.9 with our database at 10.7.1.

Any ideas what would have caused this or how to fix it?

Thanks,

Shari

  • BUG-000179030 : ArcGIS Online web maps intermittently do not display the 'Enable search' dialog box in the item details Settings tab.
  • BUG-000179446 : When configuring search by layer for a web map in ArcGIS Online, the fields that are already used are not removed from the fields list and can be selected, resulting in unexpected changes in search sources.
  • BUG-000179448 : When configuring search by layer for a web map in ArcGIS Online, changing to a layer with only one field that is already in use causes the fields list to appear blank.
  • BUG-000179450 : When configuring search by layer for a web map already configured to use a field from a layer in ArcGIS Online, a second layer can be added and changed to the first layer, which causes the save button to disappear.
  • BUG-000180215 : After a refresh of the Search by Layer Web Map settings page, layers that were previously selectable as an option are no longer listed in the drop down for new or existing searches.
  • BUG-000180217 : After configuring a Search by Layer for a Web Map in ArcGIS Online, a refresh of the Web Map settings page will cause layers that were configured before the refresh to be replaced by a different layer that was not configured by the user.
  • BUG-000180220 : After configuring 'Enable search' > 'By layer' for a web map in ArcGIS Online, a refresh of the web map Settings tab causes the layer choices to change to all be the same.

We've been facing this issue for some time. I put in a support ticket and was attached to several existing bugs and several new ones were created. Some defects are very specific and appear to be tied to configuration or environment. For us we just get what you are seeing - the same layer several times with greyed out options. Refreshing the page can sometimes get it to load correctly (though sometimes it'll drop layers).

It doesn't work reliably at all. We just refresh the page until it looks ok and then hope for the best.

This is with ArcGIS Online and Hosted Feature layers. None of the aforementioned specific configuration or environment issues.
