Recommended laptop

I am seeking a recommendation for the smallest (most lightweight) laptop or tablet that can effectively run ArcGIS Explorer.  Surely someone here has recently done this, right?  

Anything under $1000????  :cool:


I see that the system requirements page lists
Memory/RAM          2 GB or higher

Display Properties   24-bit color depth

Screen Resolution   1024 x 768 recommended or higher at normal size (96 dpi)

Disk Space            198 MB


Video/Graphics Adapter
    24-bit capable graphics accelerator

    An OpenGL 2.0 or higher-compliant video card is required, with at least 64 MB
    video memory; however, 256 MB of video memory or higher is recommended.
    Shader Model 3.0.


It is this last area (Video Graphics Adapter) that has me most concerned.

My Sony Vaio S13 (13") runs it pretty well, including 3D scenes from ArcGlobe with COLLADA models.

i7 3520m
12gb RAM
GeForce GTX 640m LE 1gb

Cost £1069 when I bought it last summer so I guess will be less (or superseded) by now.

I guess it would probably run on a lower spec, although it does take a little while to load on mine. Once running, panning and zooming around a scene is nice and smooth.
